The theme of this work is to mix presidents with out-dated television shows. I do not want to make this based on the other characters. In fact, I would like to leave only the presidential figure in the painting. So, the visual clues must be obvious, such as the 1969 Charger shown above. Not that I want to make this based on cars, but that van from the A-Team is AWESOME!
I will need some ideas about tv shows that are not obscure, and have props that immediately clue the viewer on what show is featured. Of course, the president should fit it somewhat. Then the objective is to find a somewhat sketchable president. I am not planning on honoring the other 41 presidents, because Buchanon's face really isn't that distinguishable. (However, Franklin Pierce is the only chief executive that could even be considered "hott.")
Here are some of the programs that seem possible, and its main prop.
- President as Hannibal (with cigar) and the van in the A-Team
- CHiPs!
- The Jetsens
- Abe Lincoln as the Sheriff of Mayberry?
- Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in (obvious set!)
- All in the family (that chair!)
- PeeWee's Playhouse (that chair!)
- Battlestar Galactica, or Lost in Space

Well, to stick with the vehicle theme (which I'm not sure you want to do), how about Airwolf and Knight Rider...?
If you could get the set right, I think Golden Girls would be awesome - 4 obscure presidents sitting around in that living room. Also, Sanford & Son would be obvious.

Let's see -- you could do something with the Love Boat - maybe including presidents dressed in sailor suits who are rumored or known to have dallied (Clinton, Kennedy, Cleveland, etc.). There's also the set of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood that'd be an obvious set. Or perhaps a president in a trash can, a la Oscar the Grouch. You could do the graveyard from Buffy the Vampire Slayer - perhaps have Millard Fillmore staking a vamp. There's also the game show route (Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Price is Right). There's also that old classic "Death Valley Days", in which you could - oh, wait, that one actually DID have a president in it (or at least hosting it).
